つい先日、『THE COVE』の続編、『THE COVE 2』の製作の発表がされたばかりですが、この渦中に『Behind THE COVE』がロンドンの映画祭でベストドキュメンタリー映画賞とベスト監督賞にダブルで選出されました。

「Behind THE COVE」が劇場公開時に初めて入国拒否になった「THE COVE」主演のリック・オバリはロンドンの日本大使館前で活動を広げており、現在、ロンドンは反捕鯨活動の最大拠点になっています。

[ ”Behind THE COVE" is nominated at London International Filmmaker Festival]
Following the announcement of the production of "THE COVE 2", the sequel to "THE COVE”, “Behind THE COVE”, a film which voices the opinion of "the both sides of the whaling issue", including that of the Japanese, has being nominated for Best Feature Documentary and Best Director of a Feature Documentary at the London International Filmmaker Festival, to be held in London.
London has become one of the most important bases of anti-whaling activitys. Ric O'Barry, who starred in the "THE COVE", came to Japan during the theatrical release of "Behind THE COVE" in 2016, but was refused entry into the country for the first time and was forcibly repatriated. Today, as O'Barry cannot be in Taiji, Japan, he has instead made the Japanese Embassy in London a base for his demonstration activities.
